Flight Suit Diaper Bag

I am a military wife and I have always seen women running around with cute purses made from their husbands flight suit.

Like many of us, I already had a purse (well, many purses) but I wanted to make something from a flight suit to show my "Air Force Pride." So instead I decided to make a diaper bag.

I never liked diaper bags that looked like diaper bags. You know, those square huge bags that are cumbersome, but oh so necessary. So I feminized this one for mommy and chose rounded corners and a cute button closure. I kept the large chest pockets of the flight suit for the front and took a sleeve pocket, one used for pens and a small notebook when flying, and attached it using a simple round stitch.

You can see the pocket here at the far right. I used matching thread to stitch it to the outside.










I also three leg pockets to the inside for diapers, wipes, bottles and such things. I used a contrasting thread and decorative stitching to stitch these to the inside lining. You may notice the lining is vinyl. I used iron-on, mat finish vinyl on a simple white fabric. You can always use oil cloth for this too.
