With a move in the near future, I will not be with my craft supplies for around three weeks! I will share as much as I can before and during that time.
Mother's day is May 13, 2012 and due to the move, I am getting a head start. My mother-in-law loves Moose, she even named her dog "Moose."
I decided to make her some home decor a long time ago and never got around to it. Now was the right time...
I used DW design paper, some of it from their Christmas pack (read moose).
The project measures 6"x19" and is backed with scrap piece of wood for hanging purposes.
I cut the moose out at 4" and the "welcome" at 2.5".
I also added some buttons I made from scrap pieces of felt.
I ended up buying a can of lacquer for about $5 and sprayed very thin layers, about four total. This way the paper is a bit more weather proof than it was before.
You may notice a little bit of buckling happening with the paper, this is not from the lacquer, it is my lack of hot glue skills. The lacquer did not damage the paper at all.
When spraying this project, I made sure to get each of the edges to seal those in too.
I like the way this turned out and I am hoping my mother-in-law will as well.
