Baby Ribbon Toy

So we have a new baby project!!!! I did this project with a very special boy in mind. He loves playing with the tags on his toys, so we thought of making him a ribbon toy!
He loves to wrap his little fingers around each of the ribbons and loves to eat them :) On one side there is a box pattern tact on the four corners and then the other side I used a "fake channel" technique to make a fuzzy star.
The star consists of five or so layers of flannel material with sewn lines 1/4inch apart. The fuzzyness comes when you cut (all layers but bottom) in between the lines. To get the fraying started take the edge of your scissors and brush across the top. Then when the finished product is washed the full effect can take place.
We chose different widths of ribbon and for some we added more than one loop (such as the yellow ribbon seen below).
Next time I make a ribbon toy I will try making a different shape and maybe spread out the ribbon loops a bit more. But he sure seems to like it a lot!
